So I am sure I have failed in many areas of parenting, but two are certain: Bedtime and Potty Training! Rose has slept in our bed for most of her life. It all started when she was a baby- she slept in a bassinet until I think 6-7 months. I was so scared of SIDS and felt better having her next to us. Then it was a hard transition to the crib. I know it happened and she was sleeping in her crib, but it just never lasted for long. She would get sick or fall and hit her head and we would worry and keep her in bed with us. Or she would be back on track and then we would go on vacation and all be in a bed again. Then we moved in with the Herritys and shared a bed, and well a year later she totally has been in our bed the whole time. Well after the time change last weekend it was 8:00 and she needed to get to bed, but we were not ready to I thought no, with the baby coming she HAS to sleep in her own room. She has a super cute room and needs to use it! Well it WORKED! I couldn't believe it, I didn't even have to lay with her until she fell asleep. We talked about being BRAVE and being a big girl. She never cried, just fell asleep on her own. I let her watch the IPAD for 5 min, at 8:00 she knows she has to turn it off. We cuddled for another 5 minutes and then I left and she fell asleep. The first two nights she woke up at 3:00 and hopped in bed with us, but the last 3 she has slept ALL night until 6:30. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but couldn't believe how great the transition has been this week!
Potty Training, well thats another issue that I haven't quite figured out yet. I'm hoping by the time the baby comes she will have it mastered.
